About

We provide the facilities and training for young people and adults to participate in organised beach sports and competitions. Our voluntary service has consistently supplied qualified lifeguards for Poppit beach and beyond.

The club was founded in 1980 by Charlie Sharp, Sarah Sharp & Chris Barlow. Initially the club operated from a small wooden shed then in 1986 a purpose built clubhouse was erected. The club has a proud and successful tradition keeping Poppit Sands safe and competing in National and World championships. Aled Rees from the club was the first competitor to win a Gold Medal for GB at the World Surf Life Saving championships. Several other club members have achieved great successes at National and International competitions.

Training Sessions

Surf Lifesaving is great fun for adults and children, we have a successful and friendly club and new members are very welcome.

We continue with weekly training sessions for club members. In the winter club members train every Thursday evening in Cardigan swimming pool 8.00 – 9.00. In the spring and summer the club meets on Sundays at Poppit Sands beach and clubhouse – Nippers and Juniors 2.00 – 4.00 seniors and Masters 4.00 – 6.00.
